Who are we

Until 2008 the organization consists of Christel van der Borden-Schillemans and Robert van der Borden from the Netherlands and Emmanuel Tettey Quarshie, living in Ghana. Over the last 4 years they have supported Yawsae by private donations.

In order to professionalize and expand the support for Yawsae a foundation has been set up. This foundation named  “United Development Foundation” supports in a sustainable way the local community. The foundation focuses on education and health by supporting small projects in Yawsae in Ghana.

The founders are Robert van der Borden and Christel van der Borden

United Development is an independent, non-profit, non religious, non-political and non-governmental organization. The foundation with a board will publish periodic reports by means of newsletters to their sponsors.  The raised funds are directly used for projects in Yawsae.

United Development worked 8 years with our local project manager, Emmanuel Tettey Quarshie, who worked hard with local contractors and authorities to get the job done.

We thank him for that and are most grateful for his support and the sacrifices he made.

Since May 2012 we work with a local contractor who took over Emmanuel's work.

Outside the Netherlands the name of the foundation is “United Development Foundation” whereas within The Netherlands the name of the foundation is “Stichting United Development”.

We know by experience that every individual can make a big difference for another human being. We feel privileged to be in the position to be able to help.

By having meetings with the Chief, the headmaster and the teachers, we have a clear view on what their priorities for sustainable developments for the future are.
